LESSON: 1 GETTING STARTED, LISTEN AND READ.
I. Aims and ojectives:
- Language content: To teach the Ss some vocabulary relating to the Media.
To introduce the Ss how to use gerund.
- Language function: To express their opinion to their favorite activity in their free time.
- Educational aim: To help the Ss expand their knowledge by using the Media.
1. Language
a. Vocabulary: crier, channel, interactive, remote, control, benefit.
b. Structures: love, like + gerund.
2. Skills: Integrated skills.
3. Educational factor: To help the Ss select the useful media for their studying.
II- Teacher and Students’preparation:
1- Method: Communicative approach.
2- Techniques: using pictures, using real objects, answer and questions.
3- Materials needed:Textbook, , cassette player.
4- Students’preparation: new lesson, pictures.
5- Previous exercises: The teacher’s keys to the last exercises.
III- Procedure in class:
1- Stabilization (3ms) a- Warm up: Greeting.
b- Checking absence: Who’s absent today?
2. Checking up the previous knowledges (5ms): can omit.
3. Presentation of the new materials:

- Gives a game: “ Brainstorming”.
- Has the Ss think about their favorite activities and how much time they spend on each activity.

- Asks the Ss to say some things/ some words relating to the topic with some questions.
- Plays the tape one time.
- Teaches some new words:

+ remote (adj) (synonym: distant).
+ control (v) (translation)
+ benefit (n) (synonym: profit, improvement).
- Asks the Ss to read the new words.
- Checks understandind of the new words, using the technique “slap the board”.
- Gives the poster of statements on the board and gets the Ss to work in pairs to put the statements in correct order.
1. TV is a cheap and convenient entertainment.
2. Vietnamese enjoy reading “ kien thuc ngay nay “, one of the most popular magazines.
3. Long time ago, criers had to shout the latest news as they were walking in the street.
4. Interactive is the development of TV.
